Subject: Week One — Initial Findings
The Office of Onboarding is pleased to report that a new beginning has commenced.
As expected, there were unfamiliar systems, processes, people and terminology.
There was much to learn.
There still is.
However, the Office has identified something particularly valuable during the first week.
People made time.
They explained things.
They shared their experience.
They answered questions, offered advice and provided context that no amount of advance reading could have supplied.
And somewhere between the introductions, conversations and new information, an unfamiliar environment began to feel a little more familiar.
The Office considers this a significant finding.
A good beginning is not simply about how well someone prepares.
It is also about how generously others welcome them.
Sometimes the most helpful thing we can offer someone new is not a perfect onboarding manual.
It is our time, our patience and our willingness to share what we know.
Week One status: Completed.
Information received: Substantial.
Knowledge gaps: Entirely expected.
Generosity encountered: Exceptional.
Sense of belonging: Developing nicely.
The Office extends its appreciation to everyone who makes room for a beginner.
Respectfully welcomed,
Office of Onboarding
Department of Self Love
“Sometimes the best part of beginning again is discovering the people who help us begin.”
