๐ŸŒฑ Onboarding Note | Before Day One

From: Office of Onboarding
To: All Staff
Subject: Preparation for Something New

Something new may be approaching.

Naturally, the Office has begun preparing.

There are things to read.

Things to understand.

Questions to consider.

Possibly several acronyms requiring investigation.

Preparation is useful.

The difficulty begins when preparation quietly turns into an expectation that we should already know how to do something we have not yet started.

The Office has reviewed this requirement.

It does not exist.

We do not need to understand everything before arriving.

We do not need to anticipate every problem.

And we certainly do not need to become experienced at something before having the experience.

We can prepare what is reasonable.

Then we can arrive.

Look around.

Ask questions.

Listen.

Learn how things actually work.

And begin from there.

Preparation: Sensible.
Complete readiness: Unavailable.
Curiosity: Approved.
Day One: Permitted to be Day One.

Respectfully preparing,
Office of Onboarding

โ€œYou do not have to arrive already knowing what you came to learn.โ€
