Subject: Nothing Is Wrong Today
This morning, something was not quite as hoped.
The number on the bathroom scales was higher than expected.
It was a small thing.
But disappointment arrived anyway.
The mind immediately began reviewing what should have been different.
What could have been done better.
What needs to change next.
The Office allowed these thoughts to remain for a while.
Then something else was noticed.
Nothing is actually wrong today.
There is a roof overhead.
There is food in the kitchen.
There is time to prepare something simple at home.
There are people to sit beside at the table.
There are children to take to school and welcome home again.
There is a park to walk through.
There is coffee to enjoy.
There is laundry waiting.
There will probably always be laundry waiting.
Life is not perfect.
There are things still wanted.
Things being worked toward.
Questions without answers.
Plans that have not yet unfolded.
And yes, there are numbers we sometimes wish were different.
None of this needs to be denied.
But neither does it need to obscure everything else.
Sometimes one small dissatisfaction becomes so loud that the quiet things which are going well disappear from view.
Today, the Office is choosing to notice them.
A home.
A meal.
Time.
Family.
An ordinary day.
The number on the scales has not changed.
Nothing has been solved.
There are still things to work toward.
And still—
nothing is wrong today.
