⚖️ Boundary Implementation

Subject: Emerging Behavioural Changes Across the Department

Following recent Department-wide discussions regarding ownership and boundaries, several informal observations have been reported.

The Office notes a measurable increase in the following statements:

“That sounds like their decision.”
“I can support it, but I don’t own it.”
“I’m aware of it.”
“Let’s see what happens.”

The final statement has historically been rare.

Additional observations indicate that some staff appear mildly surprised by the amount of mental space available after discontinuing responsibility for matters outside their operational control.

One employee reportedly described the experience as:

“Unexpectedly quiet.”

This assessment was widely understood.

The Office also notes a reduction in several previously common activities, including:

  • imaginary future arguments
  • rehearsing conversations that never occur
  • solving problems for people who have not requested assistance
  • carrying responsibilities before they have officially arrived

While these activities remain available to staff, participation levels appear to be declining.

A separate discussion emerged regarding whether boundaries represent personal growth or simply administrative efficiency.

The Office considers both interpretations acceptable.

Despite occasional confusion, most staff appear to be adapting successfully.

One employee recently summarised the situation as follows:

“It turns out I don’t need to carry the entire Department by myself.”

No formal objections were recorded.

Recommendation
Continue observing.

The Department appears to be discovering that responsibility has edges.

This development is considered healthy.
