Subject: When Effort Looks Like Colour
At noon today, I left my desk and wandered into the pantry.
I was met with smiles. Staff members lifted their lunch containers with quiet pride — eager to share what they had prepared.
One by one, they showed me their plates.
❤️ Tomatoes in slices.
🧡 Pumpkin roasted to sweetness.
💛 Corn kernels tucked into rice bowls.
💚 Bok choy folded beside noodles.
💙 Blueberries balanced atop yoghurt.
💜 Purple cabbage brightening wraps.
Not all plates looked the same. Some leaned hearty, others light. Some were artful, others improvised. But each one carried intention — colour, balance, and care.
I listened as they spoke:
- “I never thought corn could feel like energy.”
- “The garnish became the main act.”
- “This blueberry is proof of effort.”
- “Lunch is policy.”
And I realised: this is not just food. This is culture.
The Department has shifted. Lunch is no longer an afterthought or a negotiation with hunger. It has become an act of self respect — of self love.
This did not happen overnight. It happened because the Office of Nourishment & Energy set the example — showing us that food can be fuel, ritual, and joy all at once. Their legendary guidance has become our model. Today’s rainbow plates are the proof.
I walked away proud. Not because plates looked like rainbows, but because they reflected effort, creativity, and pride in each other.
Let it be noted: this Department feeds itself well.
Signed,
The Director
“Pride served warm.”
