Subject: Orientation Lunch — Sampled, Savoured, Remembered
Transcript
OB: (entering) We’re here for… orientation?
N&E: Correct. Today’s module: Taste Orientation.
(A sampler tray is placed before each Onboarding rep, labelled like an induction kit.)
- ❤️ Red Chicken Curry with tomatoes → “Courage you can chew.”
- 💛 Slow cooked Sweet Corn soup → “Energy in a spoon.”
- 💚 Stir-fried Bok Choy with garlic → “Growth, seasoned.”
- 💙 Fresh Blueberries → “Rest you can taste.”
- 🍫 Dark Chocolate Square → “Morale booster — mandatory.”
OB: (sniffing soup) Is this… part of the test?
N&E: Orientation is not theory. It is practice.
(They take a tentative bite, then another. Notes are scribbled, not in clipboards, but in hearts.)
OB Intern: (whispers) This is the only test I want to repeat.
OB Lead: (laughing) Failures come with seconds?
N&E: Always.
Reflection
We came expecting instructions. We left with full bellies and a new motto: you remember a good lunch longer than a good PowerPoint.
Respectfully submitted,
Office of Onboarding
“Because orientation should feed you, too.”
