Subject: Calendar Collision in Conference Room A
Incident Summary
At 10:00 a.m. Monday, Conference Room A hosted its first collision of the week. Two Offices entered simultaneously:
- Office of Productivity & Purpose: Agenda — quarterly sprint targets.
- Office of Emotional Wellbeing: Agenda — guided breathing and tea.
Both claimed valid bookings. Neither backed down immediately. A standoff ensued, lasting seven minutes.
Observed Impact
- Productivity staff set up Gantt charts; Emotional Wellbeing staff lit a candle.
- Confusion escalated when both attempted to adjust the thermostat in opposite directions.
- One projector, two agendas.
- New Hire looked genuinely concerned about attending the wrong meeting entirely.
Resolution
Facilities confirmed the cause: overlapping calendar invites with no agenda fields completed.
By 10:12 a.m., both Offices agreed to:
- Share the room. First 25 minutes: Productivity update. Next 25 minutes: guided breathing.
- Adopt a new policy: “Agenda or Decline.” Meetings without clear outcomes will not be accepted.
Lessons Learned
- Mondays bring enough surprises; calendars don’t need to add more.
- Boundaries are not just personal — they are logistical.
- Clarity saves time, reduces conflict, and keeps the thermostat steady.
- Self-love is protecting your schedule before the collision, not after.
Respectfully submitted,
Office of Compliance & Integrity
“Because clarity prevents collapse.”
