She’s back tomorrow. The Department knows it, and the buzz has already started swirling.
Voice at the Water Cooler:
“Tomorrow? She’s back tomorrow? I wonder if she’ll notice we actually kept the place tidy.”
Voice in the Pantry:
“Do you think she read all the interviews? I mean, we did practically turn them into love letters.”
Voice at the Coffee Machine:
“I’m not nervous. Not at all. Just… maybe don’t mention the emergency chocolate drawer being empty.”
Voice near the Printer:
“Honestly, I think OCI went a little overboard with all those percentages. Do you think the Director will laugh or file a counter-report?”
Voice passing the Noticeboard:
“I hope she knows how much we missed her. Like… actually missed her. Not just her memos. Her.”
Voice by the Window:
“She’ll probably ask about the foot. Someone better tell her Body Relations already filed an update.”
Voice while Filling Teacups:
“Patience has been the theme lately, hasn’t it? Feels like we’ve been practising it, waiting for tomorrow.”
Voice in the Lift Lobby:
“I wonder if she’ll walk in with a memo or a smile. Either way, it’ll set the tone for the whole week.”
Voice while Restocking Snacks:
“Speaking of tone, Nourishment & Energy should confess about the missing biscuits. We can’t hide everything.”
Voice on the Corridor Bench:
“You know what struck me? Even while she was away, everyone kept talking about her. That says something.”
Voice in the Stairwell:
“Yeah. Leadership’s not about presence in the room — it’s about the echo when you’re not there.”
Voice at the Reception Desk:
“Still… I can’t wait. Feels like the Department’s been steady, yes — but tomorrow, it’ll feel whole again.”
And with that, the waiting continues. Tomorrow, the Department welcomes her back.
