🐥 What Should Lily Do? Balancing the Energy Budget

From: Office of Onboarding

Subject: Energy Budget Allocation — Simulation Drill

🐥 Introduction

The Department of Self Love proudly introduces Lily, our Onboarding Mascot 🐥. Imperfect by design and wonderfully human, Lily bravely steps into training simulations on behalf of us all. Her role is simple: to model both the wrong turns and the kind turns — and to forever ask the timeless question: “What Should Lily Do?”

📌 Objective

By the end of this training exercise, participants will:

  • Recognise five common “energy drains.”
  • Practice allocating resources with balance and compassion.
  • Graduate with the title Provisional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Energy.

📂 Simulation Scenarios

1. The Overdraft Meeting Request

Challenge: Lily’s calendar is double-booked. Three departments want her presence at the same time.

What Should Lily Do?
a) Attend all meetings by splitting her attention into fragments.
b) Cancel everything, then spiral in guilt.
c) Attend the meeting most aligned with her priorities, and reschedule the rest. ✅

2. The Surprise Snack Expense

Challenge: Afternoon slump hits. Lily sees snacks in the office kitchen.

What Should Lily Do?
a) Skip food to “save calories,” and deplete energy further.
b) Eat all the biscuits and feel terrible afterwards.
c) Choose a snack that fuels (chocolate counts as fuel allocation) and carry on. ✅

3. The Hidden Subscription Fee

Challenge: Lily realises she’s been paying emotional rent to an inner critic every day.

What Should Lily Do?
a) Keep paying with exhaustion and self-doubt.
b) Write a furious letter but still keep the subscription active.
c) Cancel the subscription, redirecting funds toward rest and kindness. ✅

4. The Weekend Budget Blowout

Challenge: Friday night arrives and Lily feels pressure to “catch up” on everything she didn’t finish.

What Should Lily Do?
a) Work through the weekend until Monday is ruined.
b) Hide under the doona, avoid it all, and panic Sunday night.
c) Allocate small portions of time for chores, and a generous line item for joy. ✅

5. The Audit of Sleep

Challenge: The Office of Compliance calls an audit: Lily’s sleep budget has been underfunded for weeks.

What Should Lily Do?
a) Laugh it off with another coffee and power through.
b) Argue that sleep is optional in “high-performance culture.”
c) Reallocate resources immediately: earlier bedtime, guilt-free naps. ✅

🎓 Certification

Lily (and any recruit who chose ✅ options) is now certified as a Provisional CFO of Energy of the Department of Self Love.
Your badge will renew each time you allocate your resources with kindness.

Respectfully submitted,
Office of Onboarding
“Because budgeting kindness is the wisest allocation.”

Bonus Stamp: Survivors receive the character 能 (néng) — ability, capacity — on their badge, reminding us that wise energy allocation is a superpower.
