Subject: Pilot Initiative – Departmental Me Day
Dear Director
After running multiple stress simulations across the Department, we’ve concluded that the single most effective intervention is radical: one full day where you categorically skip all chores. Yes, laundry too.
Proposal:
The Director is hereby excused from all household duties for a 24-hour period. During this timeframe, no ironing, dishwashing, vacuuming, or micro-rearranging of cupboards may be performed.
Rationale:
The Department has noticed a recurring “Chore Spiral,” in which minor tasks expand to fill entire weekends. While the output sparkles (literally, the floors shine), the Director’s energy reserves do not. Our data shows diminishing returns after Hour 2 of folding laundry.
Perceived Benefits:
- Immediate stress reduction across all departments.
- Improved emotional bandwidth for activities like reading, resting, or simply staring out a window (highly underrated).
- Recalibration of internal metrics: life is not a checklist, it is an experience.
Implementation Examples (if approved):
- Director walks past laundry basket. Instead of folding, sits down with tea. Nothing collapses. The Department survives.
- Dishes remain in sink overnight. In the morning, they’re… still there. World does not end. Emotional Wellbeing Department throws confetti.
With gentle insistence,
Office of Emotional Wellbeing
“Protecting peace, one skipped chore at a time.”
