🧘Internal Memo: The Weight of the Weekend

Subject: Emotional Load-Balancing on a Saturday

This morning started beautifully. I rose early and made a wholesome breakfast for my family – nutrient-dense, home-cooked, intentional. Their satisfied smiles and comments about how their bodies felt nourished filled me with a quiet joy.

We went out after breakfast – just a little reset from the busy week. A lovely lunch, a slice of heavenly chocolate cake, and a grocery run. A slow, pleasant rhythm… until we returned home.

Then, the mental checklist hit:
šŸ›’ Unpack the groceries
🄩 Marinate the meats
🧺 Fold the laundry
🧼 Iron the clothes
šŸ“† Prep for the week

That familiar heaviness started creeping in. Why can’t I just enjoy Saturday? Why must ā€œroutineā€ arrive like a taskmaster at the door?

But here’s what I realised today – a small, important self-discovery:

The longer I resist the rhythm of care, the heavier it feels.
The quicker I begin, the lighter it becomes.

So I got moving – not because I felt like it, but because my wiser self knew the way forward. I paused when my foot needed rest. I folded, ironed, and put things back in order. And in that process, something shifted.

Self-love isn’t always scented candles and quiet journaling. Sometimes, it looks like folding towels, honouring your health with a fast after a rich meal, or simply getting things done so they don’t linger like ghosts in the background.

And tonight, as I wind down, I’m not weighed down. I’m content.

Calmly yours,
Director of Self Love
