Note to Self: Not Everything Is Urgent

Subject: Guilt Spiral, Triggered by a Cloudy Sky

I woke up this morning and, before my feet hit the floor, I was mentally negotiating with the weather.

Is it too cloudy for laundry?
Will I regret not starting the machine?
If it rains tomorrow, am I doomed to a growing pile of damp regret?

The internal voice whispered:
“Don’t be lazy.”
“You should’ve checked earlier.”
“It’s your responsibility.”

All of this… over weather. Over laundry.
But really, over the invisible mental lists I carry – quietly, daily, endlessly.

There was no crisis. No forgotten load.
Just a moment of uncertainty, spiralling into guilt – and a reminder that I sometimes equate rest with negligence, and hesitation with failure.

I’m not “lazy” for pausing.
I’m not “bad” for missing the sun.
And this basket of guilt? Not mine to carry today.

Director of Self Love
